Conclusion

To conclude, different people get motivated by various factors such as money, attribution, respect and so on. To motivate a person we have to first anticipate that which key factor best suites him/her and be a good motivator. We have to know the person's needs and wants. These all the theories play a vital role in the people life. It provide path to them to get success in their life.

Incentive theory of motivation

The next theory is Incentive theory of motivation. This is known as the driving force speculation suggests that people are pushed to do things because of outside prizes. We work for getting pay, pay goes about as helper.

The incentive theory is one of the major theory of motivation. There are two type of incentives, "positive incentives and negative incentives". These incentives motivate the people to make change in their work or to complete the goal. For instance in businesses the good incentives may be an additional benefits given to an employee such as job promotion and increase in the salary. These incentives encourage the employees to perform better. They put their heart and soul to attain the goal of an organisation.

  • Positive incentives: These are the type of incentives which give positive guarantee for satisfying the wants and needs of the people. For example, a supervisor motivate the employee by praising for the job well done. 
  • Negative incentives: These incentives given to an employees, when the positive incentives not work. In other words these incentives are provided to ratify the mistakes and errors of the worker which they make on work. 
This theory is very useful for the big organisations. Because it is very important to motivate all the employee together towards a single goal. So this theory helps in motivating them. Moreover, this theory also applied in other sectors, like in universities, colleges and even at your home. As our parents motivate us by saying that if u work hard in your study then they will give anything whatever we want.

Content theory of motivation


Motivation is a theoretical construct used to explain behavior. It represents the reasons for people's actions, desires, and needs.


The content theory of motivation: It is one of the best theory of motivation. It focuses on the importance of what motivates us (needs). There are five needs to motivate people. That are Psychological, safety, social, self-esteem and self-actualization.

 As there are five needs in the content theory among the four theories which covers all the aspects of the social needs, esteem needs, security needs and the self-actualization needs that makes it the great theory to follow among four. As every person in this universe needs food, shelter and clothes as their basic needs and above all the self-esteem this theory contains all these things in it. This makes it the most appropriate one which satisfy all the needs and requirements of humans.



Cognitive theory of motivation


Cognitive theory of motivation. It is define as the set of processes that allow us to pay attention to things, transfer information to long-term memory, and solve problems and so on. For instance, the biggest motivation to succeed in the school tends to lead to more and better work and thus to better success. This theory is derived from the two theories that are as following.

  • Goal setting theory: This theory involves the conscious processes in order to organise the level of performance to obtain the desirable outcomes. According to this theory the source of motivation is desire and intention to reach the goal. As in the organisation if the team or group recognize that the current performance is not good. Then they typically become motivated to attain the desirable goal by making efforts such as changing strategy, better coordination among group members and so on.

  • Expectancy theory: This theory suggest that work motivation is dependent upon the apparent relationship in the middle of execution and results and people change their conduct in view of their figuring of expected results. According to this theory motivation comes from the person’s feelings that what they currently have and what they want.

Attribution theory of motivation


The next theory of the motivation is Attribution theory. It is defined as an individual belief's about how the causes of success or failure affect their emotions and motivations. These both are correlated with each other. Taking an example of a student who failed in his course may blame of his failure not studying for sufficient hours. He/she may use his emotion of embarrassment and shame as a motivation to work hard in study to get good GPA.

This theory is different from the other theories. Because in this the people get motivated after getting failure in work. It gives them next chance to perform better. As we can see in the above picture that the child is shown in an angry face due to a failure. Here is another concept too. As we usually say that becoming angry is not good for health as well as for your mind. But sometime it have positive approach to get success in the work, where he/she got failed.

Motivating someone is not an easy task, because every person had different things that motivate them. In the present time the most common motivator for the people is money. Some people hold the opinion that you can achieve your goal, if you take money as a motivator. For instance, increasing the salary of the employee or worker in the organisation. But according to me money cannot be the motivator for everyone. Some people are motivated by appreciation. There are some theories that are believed to be motivator agents for the people. These all theories explain different factors that motivate the people to complete their goal.
